Centauri’s Corner

“Hi, how are you?”

“Good, how are you?” Seems to be the standard greeting in today’s world.

No one really cares how you’re doing, and it’s rare for anyone to pause long enough to hear your response. Everyone has a place to go. Everyone has things to do. You’d be seen as an inconvenience if you waste anyone’s time.

Lifes Little Hassles

Grabbing a bite to eat at times is a hassle. A hesitation on your part as you peruse the menu can be interpreted as you being difficult. Your doctor doesn’t stay long enough to answer all your questions, and your child’s teachers give you a 10-minute slot for a parent/teacher conference. It’s no wonder why people today are feeling neglected, left out, and burned out. FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) has cleverly made its way into Webster’s dictionary.

Essence of being Human

Human beings are neglecting the true essence of being… human. To pause long enough to hear and respond to “How are you?” To smile. To let that person know, you care. You care whether he/she is doing fine… or not. And It is okay to not be fine. Most destinations can wait for a few minutes while you catch up. While you pay attention to one another. Most things can wait.

There have been known cases of children who have been locked up in a room, and forgotten. Years later when they are found, and tests are run, some doctors conclude that without human interaction, their psychological, mental, emotional, and physical growth was staunched! They have never been nurtured, cared for, or loved, so they did not grow.

It is said that our mental abilities need to be healthy and strong for us to function well. To maintain balance. We need positive human interaction!

Here Today gone Tomorrow

As human beings, let’s take time to reset. Recharge. Connect. Let’s hope. Laugh. Pray. Love one another. After all, life is like a blade of grass… here today, but with the changing of seasons, or even a good lawnmower… gone tomorrow.
